Critical Incidents/Reporting Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation

It is mandatory for providers to report any knowledge or suspicions of abuse, neglect or exploitation for any clients.

• You can report to the Department of Family and Protective Services and Adult Protective Services via the Texas Abuse Hotline (1-800-252-5400) for urgent needs to be investigated within 24 hours.
• You can call 911 or your local law enforcement agency if you have an emergency or life-threatening situation that must be dealt with immediately.

If the member is in danger, call 911 first and try to get the member to safety.

Critical incidents should also be reported to the member’s MCO.
